Account Dormancy Analytics

Background

A dormant account is one in which no activity has occurred other than the posting of interest for a predetermined period of time. Federal regulations in Nigeria require that funds in dormant accounts be transferred from the financial institutions to the national treasury after a predetermined amount of time has passed since the accounts' last activity. The time period varies according to the provisions of the Finance Act.

The Account Dormancy Analytics dashboard was created to help monitor and reduce dormancy rates. The solution was designed to accomplish the following:

1) increase the bank's focus on retaining customers because doing so is more cost-effective than acquiring new ones.

2) help improve operational efficiency in the reactivation of dormant accounts and also keep track of the performance of each account officer, team, zone, and group in relation to the dormancy and reactivation of accounts.
